World Cup fever hits Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm

Last night the World Cup finally got underway and everyone at Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm has been truly swept up in the football fever.

Our beautiful big cats have been getting into the Brazillian spirit with some football fun.

Tiana and Khan love putting their natural hunting skills into action, this time with some football balls getting the battering!

Enrichment activities are vital to ensuring these clever cats are stimulated and happy in their home at Noah’s Ark. So the summer season provides a perfect opportunity for the tigers to climb, bat and test their claws on swinging footballs!

And remember Paul the Octopus, who had a penchant for predicting World Cup winners last time around?

Ever since his tentacles took betters by storm, people around the world have been seeking their own World Cup animal psychics.

This year, a Brazilian turtle is vying for the title. Big Head, 25, patriotically predicted the Brazillian win last night – as you can see below.

But he wasn’t the only one, as it seems we have some fortune-reading creatures ourselves at Noah’s Ark!

Our tapirs think they can tell you who is going to win the 2014 World Cup matches.

Toby, Tara and Tallulah get to choose from two feed buckets and the popular bucket represents the winning team.

Last night the family overwhelmingly gave their backing to Brazil – who went on to beat Croatia 3-1.

(The fact our Lowland Tapirs are South American has nothing to do with it, honest!)

Keep an eye on our Facebook page over the coming weeks to see how Toby, Tara and Tallulah get on predicting the World Cup winners!

It’s a great time of year to come and see the family in person, as the sun is out and the tapirs, like many of our animals, are enjoying exploring their surrounds in the warm weather.

You can even try out the tapirs’ winning streak yourself by asking them a question during a Keeper Experience. Our Big Zoo experience allows you to get up close with the friendly tapirs, as well as the stunning rhinos and giraffes.

As well as all the gorgeous animals, our Jungle Tots play group offers structured play for young children and we have play equipment, tractor rides and much more, making Noah’s Ark a great place for a summer day out in Bristol.

And with plenty of open space and games areas, you can even join the animals in a kick about yourself!

We are open from Monday – Saturday, 10:30am – 5pm. For more information please visit the Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm website or call 01275 852606.
